The Supermarine Spitfire Mk Vb was a prominent British fighter aircraft of World War II, produced as an interim stop-gap model using an upgraded airframe and engine. The engine was a Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 (or Merlin 46 for higher altitudes), producing 1,440 hp.
It was armed with two 20 mm Hispano cannons and four .303-inch Browning machine guns. The aircraft had a top speed of approximately 370 mph (595 km/h) depending on altitude and configuration.
