Immortalised in the 2003 film Master and Commander: The other side of the world, this new wooden model brings this icon to life for model ship lovers, history buffs and collectors of wooden replica sailboats. The fictional ship was originally modelled for the film from HMS Rose.

This flat-on-frame wooden ship model kit ensures historical fidelity to O'Brian's literary vision and movie-inspired details such as ornate galleries and rigged masts. Ideal for advanced modellers building authentic wooden ship models based on the novels and film.

Build the HMS Surprise with premium woods such as hickory and Swiss pear, brass hardware and pre-stitched cotton sails. This new DIY wooden ship model revives Aubrey's voyages with laser-cut parts, intricate rigging and gunnery.

The model's advanced construction mimics real shipbuilding, supported by a 100-page, full-colour instruction manual, detailed plans and more than 70 video tutorials. New for 2025, it features more true-to-life detailing compared to traditional kits, offering balanced complexity for rewarding assembly.
