The CH-47D Chinook is the workhorse of the US Army, and is manufactured by the Boeing Vertol company. The Chinook has served as the prime mover for the US Army and other military forces for decades. Its principal missions include transport of troops, artillery, ammunitions, fuel, water, barrier materials, supplies and equipment on the battlefield. Other missions include medical evacuation, aircraft recovery, fire fighting, parachute drops, heavy construction, disaster relief, and search and rescue.

The effectiveness of the Chinook has been continually upgraded by successive product improvements, from the CH-47A to CH-47D. Continuous product improvements have more than doubled the Chinook's lift capacity since its inception.

It currently is powered by two Lycoming T-55-L-714 turboshaft. The crafts fuselage is 60 feet long with an overall length of 99 feet. It stands 18 feet 7 inches tall and weighs, unloaded, 22,452 pounds. It has a maximum speed of 185 mph with a flying ceiling of 17,000 feet and a travelling range of 1,250 miles.

The model kit when completed is 409.5 mm long and the rotor diameter is 248.3 mm. There are 118 pieces on 4 sprues as well as left and right fuselage pieces and clear windows.

Glue and paint are required but are not included.
