AMU35A035 - Amusing Model
The Centurion Mk5 AVRE is a combat engineer vehicle that was operated by the Royal Engineers of the British Army during the first Gulf War. There were 12 AVREs deployed but none saw action on the front, although three were destroyed over a two day period due to explosion incidents.
The AVRE variant is a modified Centurion with additional armour, has a large hydraulic dozer blade fitted at the front of the vehicle and is fitted with a L9A1165mm crushing gun for crushing obstacles and the turret basket is enlarged. The Crushing Gun is used to destroy walls and bunkers which would obstacles to operations. High explosive squash (HESH) can be fired up to 2,400 metres.
