Fokker D.VII (OAW), 1:72 Scale

07407 - Eduard

Weekend edition kit of German WWI fighter aircraft Fokker D.VII in 1/72 scale.

The kit is focused on aircraft built by OAW factory.

Anthony Fokker, "The Flying Dutchman" designed some of the most important airplanes of his time and his Fokker D.VII is regarded as the best German fighter of the Great War and also one of the best of its time.

During the second half of 1917, the Germans were gradually losing their air superiority over the Western front. The Albatross and Fokker were overshadowed by the Allied arrivals like the Sopwith Camel, S.E. 5 and the Spad XIII.

To get the German Air Force back to shape a fighter competition was organised. Fokker ordered his experimental workshop to design and build a biplane prototype. It was powered by a Mercedes in -line 6 cylinder 160hp motor.

This model is based around the Fokker D.VII built by OAW with the major differences with the number size and location of inspection doors and cooling vents and later with an improved landing gear axle wing.
